Relative Caregivers Can Provide Special Care Through Adoption

Aspiranet provides support to relative caregivers who have made the commitment to adopt the children in their care.  Aspiranet provides the Adoption Family Assessment that is needed to transition relative care providers to their role as adoptive parents. These unique situations require an expertise when adult siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents are transitioning to their role as adoptive parents.  Aspiranet assists relative caregivers in promoting the safety, permanency and well-being of children in their kin network, and to keep them out of the foster care system.  Social workers help to identify the needs of the family, coordinate services, and establish an ongoing support system to insure that the family receives those needed services and stays together. Referrals for these adoption home studies must be made by the child’s county agency.
