Family Support Specialists are skilled in:

- Explaining growth and development of the baby
- Navigating public transportation routes
- Testing the baby for developmental progress
- Providing English to Spanish translations
- Recommending classes and support groups
- Aiding in employment searches

A Welcome Home Baby Family Support Specialist visits families to ensure the family has the support it needs to care for and support a new family member. Since this program began, child abuse reports to child protective services for this age group has dropped 60%.
